Inmate Text App
If you have a friend or family member currently in prison, the best way to stay in touch is through an inmate texting application. These apps have been specifically created to meet prison regulations and permit family members and friends to send and receive messages and photos, eCards, video text inmate calls, and money into their trust accounts in prison. There are also federal inmate apps that provide additional services, such as video visits and phone calls.
The JPay application, for instance, enables family and friends to easily transfer money to an inmate's trust account, along with photos, email as well as eCards, video grams and more. You can also design personalized postcards by using their own photographs. It's also a safer and more secure alternative to traditional postal mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut that provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app is accessible at select correctional facilities, and allows inmates to upload photos and communicate with family members and friends on their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 for each message and loved ones pay for the data that is used to read their messages (but not for explicit photos). You can also use the GettingOut app to post a photo on Facebook or Foursquare and check-in on Foursquare, and add a video to the YouTube upload.
