Inmate Text App
If you have a friend or family member who is imprisoned, the best option to stay connected with them is via an inmate-texting application. These apps are designed to comply with prison regulations and permit family and friends to send messages, photos and video calls, eCards and even money to their trust accounts in prison. In addition to these messaging apps, there are also a number of federal inmate apps which provide additional services like video visitation and phone calls.
The JPay app, for example, enables family and friends to pay money into an inmate's trust account, along with email, photos as well as eCards, video grams and more. It also lets them create personalized postcards with personal photos. It's a safer and more secure alternative to regular mail.
Another popular inmate text application is GettingOut that provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app, available in certain correctional facilities, lets inmates upload photos and text their family members and friends using their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message, and their loved ones pay the costs for accessing the data (but not explicit photos). You can also make use of the GettingOut app to post a photo federl inmate texting on Facebook or Foursquare and check in on Foursquare and include a video in an YouTube upload.
